The legend of the intense love of Radha Krishna is undeniably evident. Their love and eternal relationship is not only devotional but also a great source of inspiration to many artists who have tried depicting the everlasting passion of Radha and Krishna on a piece of paper or canvas.
Of their many forms and poses, the Raasleela is the most popular. Featuring Krishna as the flute-player at the centre, the picture Radha Krishna Raasleela is all about Gopis of Vrindavan and Radha surrounding the Lord in a captivating scene. The Gopis join in the celebration by playing various musical instruments such as dholak and sitar. While Krishna wears an intense look, the Gopis as well as Radha form an enchanting position so as to appreciate the music.
In this painting, lot of bright colours have been used. Just like Madhubani art, this Tikuli painting is completed with yellow, red, blue, and green in well-balanced proportions.
The Radha Krishna Raasleela painting is an amazing art to adorn walls and doorways. As it has been painted on hardwood, this painting can be set up against tables as well.

About Tikuli Painting

The Tikuli painting is practised in remote areas of Bihar and Jharkhand. It is more or less similar to Madhubani art and has the same characteristics except that Tikuli features a host of dots and blotches throughout. Tikuli painting is a popular art, used to design homewares such as tea-coasters, trays, serving plates and so on. The intricate Tikuli patterns are a delight to see and a beauty to own.

Interestingly, the word Tikuli emerged from one of the adornments of ladies the Bindis that embellishes the forehead of women especially those who are married. The artists were inspired by the idea of the Bindi only to come up with Tikuli, which is an extension of the Mithila or the Madhubani art form.
It is majorly done on wood especially on hardwood so that the exact effects of the colours are emerged as one.
The intense love and passion shared by Radha-Krishna is the main theme of Tikuli paintings and most of the pictures revolve around this idea displaying the eternal affections and true devotions of Radha and Krishna towards each other.
